Kerry Hill Sheep - Lambs
The time the lambs will be born is always an exciting time. Will all go well? What do they look like? Is it an ewe or a ram? Fortunately Kerry Hill usually lambs easily and independently. The lambs are born as ‘registered’ animals. This means that although both parents are ‘flock-book’ animals, the lambs have to be inspected by the commission before they can eventually be entered in the Flock Book and will be ‘flock-book’ animals from there on. From the moment of birth we look at them critically and note down our “favorites”. On two further occasions we have another very critical look at all our lambs before we decide which lambs will be shown to the commission for inspection. As I have a clear idea where I want to go, a little while after the lambs’ inspection, I have another good look at the ‘flock-book’ ones and then decide which ones will definitely be used for breeding. |
